Prof. Ben S. Branch

Prof. Ben S. Branch, is Professor Emeritus of Finance at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. He earned his PhD in Economics at the University of Michigan in 1970. He has taught at UMass Amherst since 1975, having previously taught at Dartmouth College.
Prof. Branch has a distinguished record of publishing in Finance and Economics journals and is listed in Google Scholar as having 143 papers, with 3,550 citations and a h-index of 24. He has published is numerous elite journals, including: Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Business, Journal of Management, Harvard Business Review, and Financial Management.
He is the past President of the Eastern Finance Association, and was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Prof. Branch also currently serves as Associate Editor of the International Review of Financial Analysis. His research interests are in the areas of: Investments, Bankruptcies, Strategic Planning, Futures Markets, Corporate Finance, and Industrial Organization.
In terms of professional experience, Prof. Branch was the Chairman of the Board for First Republic Bank Corp from 1991-1994. He was Director (Ex Officio) of BankEast Corporation from 1991-1993 and was Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Bank of New England Corporation from 1991-2013.
